The Patna High Court has summoned the state government, expressing strong displeasure over the drug controller not taking action on the production and sale of banned drugs. The court has asked the state government to know where the banned drugs come from and why they are not banned.
The court has said in its order that the banned drug is like poison, whose sale and circulation should be banned. The state government should take it seriously. It is common to remove milk by dipping, while there is a complete ban on its manufacture and sale. Nevertheless, this needle is getting comfortable. A bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice S Kumar heard the case. The court asked the state government to explain how the production and sale of these banned drugs are going on.
Advocate Mayuri told the court that there are many such drugs, whose manufacture and sale was banned by the central government in 2011 itself. Despite this, the manufacture and sale of these banned medicines is being done indiscriminately but the attention of the responsible officer of the concerned department does not go to this. The court also ordered the Principal Secretary of Health Department to present the details of the action taken against the guilty officers in the next hearing.
