Christmas is not over, in these 15 countries will be celebrated on January 7, know what is the reason

Every year Christmas is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Jesus.

The date of 25 December is very special for people of the worldwide Christian community. It is believed that Jesus Christ was born on this day. Mother Mary, also known as Mary, gave birth to Jesus Christ, the messenger of God on this day. This is the reason that most countries around the world celebrate Merry Christmas on 25 December.

Most countries celebrated Christmas on Friday, 25 December. But do you know that Christmas was not celebrated in all the countries of the world. There are some countries where Christmas will be celebrated in January, not on 25 December. There are 15 countries rather than 2-4. Because of this, these countries are also called conservative.

Many Middle Eastern countries, including Russia, are involved in celebrating Christmas in January. These countries celebrate Christmas on seven dates in January, unlike most countries around the world. That is, Christmas is celebrated in these countries on 13 January after 13 days of most countries.

Countries celebrating Christmas on 7 January

Before knowing the reason behind celebrating Christmas on January 7, we tell you which of those 15 countries are there. Among the countries doing this, Russia, Egypt and Israel are big names. Apart from these countries, Christmas is celebrated in Ukraine, Bulgaria, Moldova, Macedonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Belarus, Montenegro and Kazakhstan on January 7 instead of December 25.

What is the reason?

In these countries, calendar is the reason behind celebrating Christmas on 7 January instead of 25 December. Actually, the Gregorian and Julian calendars differ, due to which the date changes. The Gregorian calendar was started by Pope Gregory in the year 1582, while the Julian calendar was started by Julius Caesar in 46 BC. There is a difference of 13 days between the two.

Different calendars are followed in different countries. In the year 1752, England started following the Gregorian calendar instead of the Julian calendar. Most countries of the west have been following this calendar. However, a lot of people did not accept the new calendar and followed the already existing Julian calendar.

According to ScoopWhoop’s report, some people from the Middle East are still following the Julian calendar. Due to the difference of 13 days between the two calendars, Christmas Day is celebrated on 7 January in the countries following the Julian calendar. It is called ‘Old Christmas Day’.
